The Robin Dods Terracotta Roof Award is a new category for the 2016 Think Brick Awards that will reward the best commercial or residential architecture project featuring the prominent use of terracotta roof tiles. Presented by the Roofing Tile Association of Australia in association with Think Brick Australia, the Robin Dods Terracotta Roof Award also boasts the largest cash prize of $15,000 among the six award categories. All other award categories have a cash prize of $10,000 each and the overall winning entry will receive the Grand Prix prize of two Business Class tickets to the Venice Biennale in 2018.
Mrs Elizabeth McIntyre, Chief Executive Officer of the Roofing Tile Association of Australia and Think Brick Australia, said, “The new Robin Dods Terracotta Roof Award with the largest cash prize among the categories, as well as the Roof Tile Excellence Award, are a reflection of the growing focus on roof tiles in architectural design. The Award will shine a spotlight on the sustainability benefits and timeless beauty of terracotta roof tiles,” said Mrs McIntyre.
The Robin Dods Terracotta Roof Award is named after famed architect R.S. Dods, who commenced practice in Brisbane in 1896 and Sydney in 1913.
